The cause of Meniere’s disease has not been determined yet. Heredity and previous internal ear damage are blamed for the onset of the disease.
The inner ear has a snail-shaped balance organ. There is a liquid in this balance organ. Excessive production of this fluid for various reasons causes pressure in the inner ear to cause Meniere’s disease. The cause of fluid increase is not clear, but some allergen or infections are thought to cause overproduction of the fluid.
What is Meniere’s Disease Treatment?
Since the cause of Meniere’s disease is not known, definitive treatment cannot be performed. The aim is to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of the disease. For this purpose, some infusion solutions that improve blood circulation, drugs that relieve nausea and vomiting are used. Patients usually benefit from medication. Approximately one year after drug therapy, attacks are almost completely eliminated.
