Ear infection is divided into middle ear and external ear inflammation. Otitis media or otitis media are infections that usually occur in the middle ear with a bacterium or virus. The most important symptom is ear pain. Inflammation of the middle ear can cause hearing loss if left untreated. The inflammation of the middle ear is mostly caused by swelling blockage of the nasal canals and eustachian tubes due to colds, flu, allergies, and accumulation of fluid in the middle ear and subsequent growth of bacteria or viruses.
Inflammation of the external ear canal usually occurs with bacteria or some fungi, such as Pseudomanas aeruginosa, which pass through the pool or sea water. The most important symptoms of external ear inflammation are ear pain, discharge in the ear, hearing loss, itching, swelling and redness in the ear.
