Allergy is an over-reaction of the immune system to a substance called allergen. The substances that stimulate the immune system in the body and cause allergies are called allergens. When the immune system first encounters an allergen substance entering the body, no problems arise.
Allergic rhinitis is a response to an allergen to which the mucosa within the nose has previously sensitized. These allergens may be substances such as pollen, house powder, fungus or food. The most common symptoms of allergic rhinitis are sneezing, runny nose, nasal itching and nasal congestion. In the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic substance avoidance, drug therapy, vaccine treatment or surgical treatment is applied.
